Rolls-Royce (HOTELKU BERJALAN)

China now largest market for Rolls-Royce

LONDON – China has overtaken the US for the first time to become Rolls-Royce’s largest market in 2011, the company announced on Monday.
Rolls-Royce, one of the UK’s most prestigious brands, sold 3,538 luxury cars in 2011 – the highest in its 107-year history, eclipsing the previous record set in 1978 when 3,347 cars were sold.
Sales in the Asia-Pacific region grew 47 percent in 2011 while business in Britain rose by 30 per cent.

“China and the US were the most significant individual markets for Rolls-Royce,” the company announcement goes.
In China, “Beijing is our strongest selling point,” told Andrew Ball, communications manager of Rolls-Royce, but he declined to unveil how many cars the company sold in China in 2011.
Rolls-Royce’s announcement came as the UK economy is at a critical stage amid looming fear for a double-dip recession.
“We had an outstanding year in 2011 and we should take a moment to reflect on this Great British success story,” said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, chief executive of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
“Our business is in excellent shape. We are developing our dealer network, moving into new markets like South America, expanding our manufacturing operation in West Sussex to meet global demand and plan to develop our product range.”
Rolls-Royce, which is based in Goodwood, West Sussex, but owned by Germany’s BMW, said sales were driven by booming demand for the Phantom and the £165,000 Ghost.
The company said the outstanding performance was a “Great British success story”.
Rolls-Royce has been a motoring icon for over 100 years. Our task is to ensure it continues to set the pace in the next century” were the glorious words of Torsten Muller Otvos, CEO Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, which pleasantly turned out to be true. Hot on wheels, Rolls-Royce, over a century, has never failed to capture eye balls, persisting to be the man’s most desired possession.
"SEJARAH ROLLS-ROYCE"

                                                The famous Rolls Royce Engine

Rolls-Royce Limited was created over a famous lunch brokered by Henry Edmunds at the Midland Hotel in Manchester on 4th May 1904. Edmunds brought together Henry Royce, a successful engineer and Charles Rolls, the owner of one of the first car dealerships. The rest is history. Since 1904 Rolls-Royce has created instantly recognizable motor cars that have made the marque an enduring icon all over the world.

Heres a look at this wonderful Voyage of Glory

                                               Silver Ghost

In 1906, Rolls-Royce introduced its first car, the Silver Ghost. After a record-breaking 24,000 kilometer non-stop endurance run, it earned the reputation as the best car in the world. Just over 7,000 Silver Ghosts were built. The Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost is epitomizing all that is the very best in British engineering. Utmost attention to detail resulted in such an outstanding quality that this motor car rightfully the world's most prestigious car. The first public display of the 40/50 hp model, as it was called back then, was at London's Olympia Motor in November 1906 with deliveries commencing from April 1907. It was this model on which the company's reputation for excellence was based. Steady development resulted in significant improvements in performance and handling. Production continued until 1925.

                                                                  Phantom I

In 1925 the Silver Ghost was replaced by the "New Phantom", which was later known as Phantom I. The last batch of Silver Ghosts was built in 1927 as armoured car chassis for the Russian Trade Delegation "ARCOS".  The Phantom was built both in the UK and in a new factory in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Silver Dawn

The Silver Dawn was the first Rolls-Royce to be sold with a standard steel body and all were exported. The six-cylinder in-line engine of 4,257cc was enlarged to 4.5-litre in 1951 and then to 4.9-litres in 1954.

                                                                               Phantom IV

In 1950, HRH Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh broke a long-standing royal tradition and took delivery of the first Phantom IV. Designed exclusively for Royalty and Heads of State, the Phantom IV is one of the rarest Rolls-Royces in the world, with only 18 ever been produced.

Silver Spur

The Silver Spur added four inches to the Spirit wheelbase. 25 Silver Spur Centenary models were built in 1985, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the motor car in Great Britain. The Silver Spur was also built in limousine form, stretched by up to 42 inches.

Corniche

In 1971 just after the company had been forced to call in the receiver over financial trouble associated with problems in the jet engine production the two door models were given an independent identity of their own when the Rolls-Royce Corniche was announced. The new Corniche with a low-loss exhaust system, tuned engine, new facia and new spun stainless steel wheel trims differed in technical specification as well as in outward appearance from the basic models. From 1982 onward only the convertible remained.

Phantom Coupé

The most driver-orientated model in the Phantom family, the Phantom Coupé is a sleek and seductive combination of classic proportions, powerful presence and breathtaking detailing. Developed from the 101EX Experimental cars and inspired by the Phantom II Continental of the 1930s, the Phantom Coupé is a celebration of sporting style and glamour.

Ghost

The Rolls-Royce Ghost is a luxury saloon from Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. The "Ghost" nameplate, named in honour of the Silver Ghost, a car first produced in 1906, was announced in April 2009 at the Auto Shanghai show. Seductively simple, it offers the presence you’d expect from a Rolls-Royce underpinned by the latest technology and ideas in luxury car design.
